PARKINSON AWARENESS MONTH: APRIL 2015<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dressed in my Parkinson red and so happy to be able to bring some coverage to the 2015 Hope in Bloom Tulip Campaign. Tulips, the symbol of the Parkinson Society, all sold at busy commuter hubs around the GTA with all the proceeds going back to suport the organization<\/a>. This is me with the incredible Helen who not only lives with Parkinson’s but continues to fight for the cause daily! We were happy to do a number of live hits all da<\/a>y on The Weather Network! Thanks to all who came out to support!<\/p>\n

OPCC: BREAKFAST WITH SANTA 2014<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I am so humbled to have partnered up with some incredible organizations to give back to others in need. Special shout-out to the Oakville Parent-Child Centre. Here\u2019s a snap from this years Breakfast with Santa 2014. 400 attendees, many singing children and of course the big man in red. PARKINSON SUPERWALK 2014<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m always proud to participate in the Parkinson SuperWalk! Thanks for having me back again this year to speak to the crowd. It was an especially emotional time – this is the first event I’ve been at since my Grandfather’s passing. He loved listening to the stories of those that fought the disease alongside him and this year was no different. Check out the video <\/a>as the Citytv cameras were there as well to support the largest national fundraising event for Parkinson Society Canada! Tens of thousands of participants from coast-to-coast get involved. Last year close to 3 million dollars were raised for support services, research and advocacy….and most of all for continued HOPE!<\/p>\n

PORRIDGE FOR PARKINSON’S<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cooking-up hot cereal and hope for a cure! Mornings are when those with Parkinson’s tend to have least-active symptoms, that’s why this low-key breakfast fundraiser began a few years ago and has since contributed over a million dollars to the search for a cure. I was so happy to attend and EAT this year, as Parkinson CNO’s Regional Spokesperson. Check out the yummy video here.<\/a><\/p>\n

September 7th and 8th, 2013<\/p>\n

Walking their way to a future without Parkinson’s: 100 communities coast to coast took part in the annual walk-a-thon’s to raise money and awareness about this condition. Here’s the inspiring video from this year’s Toronto walk<\/a> at Earl Bales Park, where just from the area hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised! And what a fun day! Thanks for having me out to rally the crowd, baby-bump and all.<\/p>\n

YORKVILLE CUT-A-THON FOR PARKINSON’S<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

April 7th, 2013<\/p>\n

CityNews was live all day at the 2013 Cut-A-Thon for Parkinson’s. The “mane” event for the Parkinson Society this past spring. Participants received a 40 dollar hair cut at an elite Yorkville salon and all the proceeds went back to much needed awareness, funding, research for this disease. Did I mention the whole day was a blast? So happy I got to be a part of it!<\/p>\n

HOPE IN BLOOM TULIP CAMPAIGN<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What a great kick-off to Parkinson awareness month. I’m always saying we have the best viewers in the world. And this April you opened your hearts, wallets…and gardens! To purchase tulips all around the GTA for the ’13 Hope in Bloom Tulip Campaign. CityNews was there at kiosks all over the city as tulips were sold with ALL proceeds going back to the Parkinson Society.<\/p>\n

IT’S OFFICIAL – I’M PARKINSON SOCIETY CNO’S REGIONAL SPOKESPERSON…AND SO HONOURED!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

No I don’t have Parkinson’s (even tho early on-set of the disease is a real thing) BUT, my maternal grandfather who helped raise me does suffer from it. Parkinson’s has touched my family in big way. And I wanted to show this strong man in my life, that there was someone out there fighting publicly to get word out about the struggles, hopes and the search for a cure. I’m thrilled to be working alongside the Parkinson Society of Central and Northern Ontario as their Regional Spokesperson to help “break down the boundaries.”<\/p>\n
